The boards and spine richly decorated in gilt and with coloured onlays, depicting a rebab player both on the front – and on the back board. The edges of the back board richly blindstamped. All edges gilt.
An extra title page in gold with an emblem.

A splendid copy of this book in a very fresh binding and with important provenance.
On the front pastedown there is the bookplate of Maximilian Joseph Eugene Auguste Napoleon de Beauharnais, 3rd Duke of Leuchtenberg, Prince Romanowsky.

Important provenance: Maximilian, 3rd Duke of Leuchtenberg was a son in law of Tsar Nicholas the first of Russia and a cousin both of emperor Napoleon III of France and of Franz Joseph I, emperor of Austria and king of Hungary.
