Illustrations of Jerusalem

Francis Arundale (b. 1807 – d. 1853) was an English architectural draughtsman.

In the first half of the 19th century several Englishmen explored the Middle Eastern region. Bononi in the 1820’s joined Robert Hay (“Illustrations of Cairo”) in Egypt. Here he developed a lifelong interest in Egypt.
In 1833/34 both, Arundale and Bononi, travelled through Palestine, resulting in the publication of this scarce book in 1837.
